Athenium Analytics

Athenium Analytics leverages AI-enabled imagery analytics, predictive models, and proprietary risk scores to help insurers with natural hazard risk assessment, among other services. In May 2018, Weather Analytics, a provider of risk data for insurers, acquired Athenium, a claims and underwriting assessment software company to form Athenium Analytics.

The company’s risk analytics-related product range includes, IRIS, Gauge, Beacon, Dexter, and Atlas. 1) IRIS provides property risk factors for underwriting. 2) Gauge offers a risk management dashboard that provides climate-based risk scores and assessment tools. 3) Beacon provides extended forecasts and early alerts for weather perils. 4) Dexter provides a weather forensics dashboard to manage and verify hazard claims. 5) Atlas provides a global climate database containing 250+ historical and forecast weather variables.

Key customers and partnerships

In November 2020, Athenium Analytics partnered with Aon, an NYSE-listed provider of insurance and risk management, to develop severe convective storm modeling for insurance. Other partners include In-Q-Tel, Duck Creek Technologies, and Guidewire. In July 2022, the company collaborated with Esri, a geographic information system (GIS) software provider, to launch a new historical tornado data set through the Esri ArcGIS Marketplace. This increases Athenium Analytics’s geographical reach.

As of November 2022, the company serves 100+ clients, of which around one-third are insurance providers, and is adopted across 70+ countries. Athenium Analytics’ clients include IBM, PURE Insurance, Celina Insurance Group, Tokio Marine Holdings, and Silveus Insurance Group.
