GOOD Meat is a cultivated meat division of food technology company Eat Just, Inc., focused on producing chicken and other meats directly from animal cells without slaughter. The company uses a process that involves extracting cells from chickens and feeding them a mix of proteins, fats and carbohydrates to proliferate and grow into meat in bioreactors. GOOD Meat became the first company in the world to receive regulatory approval to sell cultivated meat when it launched its chicken product in Singapore in 2020. In June 2023, GOOD Meat received full approval from the US Food and Drug Administration and US Department of Agriculture to sell its cultivated chicken in the US, becoming one of the first companies to gain such approval. The company's production facility in Alameda, California resembles a brewery with large stainless steel tanks used as bioreactors. GOOD Meat aims to make its products affordable and accessible while addressing environmental and animal welfare concerns associated with conventional meat production.
