Texas-based Nabaco is a food waste prevention technology startup that develops an edible and organic water-soluble coating that extends the shelf life of fruits and vegetables. The coating, called NatuWrap, uses a nanotechnology similar to one employed to maintain the freshness of flowers. The company claims that NatuWrap 1) can triple the shelf life of perishable fruits and vegetables 2) is safe to consume 3) can be used on the produce at any stage of the supply chain (pre-harvest or post-harvest), and 4) costs only one-fourth as much as similar shelf life extension coatings provided by competitors like Apeel Sciences.

In 2021, the company also exported its product to Ghana via the distributor Whole Harvest.
