Omolle, founded in 2018, first operated as a smart gym solutions provider, digitizing gym equipment with Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. However, amid the challenges associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, the company changed its focus and entered the connected fitness space in 2021 with the launch of a patented interactive multi-fitness smart mat.
The product–“MATIV”–comprises a smart mat and wristband, and is capable of determining 300 different exercises such as jumping jacks, squats, lunges, and planks in real-time. The mat is equipped with around 40,000 sensors and artificial intelligence (AI)-based algorithms to track, analyze, and provide feedback while the user follows workout videos on its interactive mobile app. The smart wristband’s sensors track arm movements such as speed and angle. Users can also access a variety of workout content, including high-intensity interval training (HIIT), boot camp, cardio, and Pilates on Omolle’s mobile app for a subscription fee of USD9.9 per month and the product is priced at USD 516. The company plans to introduce live workout programs in 2022.
In June 2021, Omolle launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, which is expected to continue until mid-June. This follows a USD 204,134 raise in another crowdfunding campaign through Kickstarter.
