Switzerland-based Swiss Smyze is the maker of an automated robot barista capable of making and selling coffee drinks as well as a variety of mocktails through its articulating arm-equipped kiosk. The unit, which occupies a footprint of four square meters (43 sq. ft.), comes with a programmed menu of 60 drinks and is capable of preparing 120 drinks per hour. Customers can place orders either via the attached touchscreen unit or via an app.
As of November 2021, the company had deployed five robots in Switzerland with plans to expand its operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
The robots will be owned and operated by Smyze within Europe, and, once set up, the company will enter into a revenue-sharing agreement with the locations where the machines are installed. Smyze is also reportedly considering applying a franchise model in regions where the company does not have a physical presence.
