Oleago is a Turkish company that produces a vegan leather material, “Oleatex,” made from olive industry waste and other bio-waste. According to the company, 1.2 sq. yds. of Oleatex material is produced from 300 grams of waste. The company has created five different types of Oleatex (with varying textures) to fit applications for clothing, bags and wallets, shoes, labels, and book bindings. As of April 2021, the material was 70% bio-based, with the company working toward making the product 100% bio-based.
