Pontera provides a fintech platform that enables financial advisors to manage and monitor their clients' workplace retirement accounts including 401(k)s, 403(b)s and other held-away retirement plan assets. The platform allows advisors to analyze fund options, review historical performance, set target-fund allocations, and implement tax and investment strategies across clients' entire portfolios. Through its SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001-certified technology, Pontera creates a secure environment where advisors can trade and rebalance retirement accounts without directly accessing clients' login credentials or retirement plan providers' websites. The platform prohibits advisors from making disbursements, transfers, or changes to beneficiaries and contributions. Pontera integrates with portfolio reporting, billing and other advisor technology solutions including AdvisorEngine, Envestnet's BillFin, and SS&C Black Diamond to provide seamless account management. The company generates revenue by charging financial advisors a percentage fee based on assets managed through the platform.
As of December 2023, Pontera processed a significantly higher volume of assets compared to 2021, with annual revenue quadrupling during this period. In January 2024, the company expanded its office presence, signing a lease for 41,000 square feet at the Empire State Building in New York, up from its previous 10,539 square foot space at 111 W. 33rd Street.
