ToolJet

ToolJet is an open-source low-code platform designed for building custom internal tools and applications with minimal coding. Founded in April 2021 by Navaneeth PK, ToolJet allows users to connect to various data sources, including databases like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MS SQL Server, Snowflake, and BigQuery, as well as SaaS tools such as Airtable, Stripe, and Google Sheets. The platform features a visual App Builder that enables users to drag and drop components, creating interactive interfaces with tables, charts, forms, and other UI widgets.

ToolJet's framework supports both JavaScript and Python for writing custom business logic, allowing developers to manipulate data, perform calculations, and handle user interactions. The platform includes a built-in database called ToolJet DB, which is based on PostgreSQL, for secure internal data management. Users can run queries to fetch or update data, and display information using various UI components.

As of January 2022, ToolJet had been adopted by hundreds of software teams since its open-source version was released in 2021. The company offers both a cloud-hosted solution and self-hosted options for deployment, catering to different organizational needs. ToolJet's commercial version provides additional features such as advanced user access controls and other security capabilities.

François Xavier Lecarpentier, Head of Research Production Management, reported that ToolJet significantly shortened their design and development time for internal tools. James Bender, Director of IT at a midsize firm, praised ToolJet for enabling them to build apps to solve business requirements without dedicated developers. Liron Hanania, Head of DevOps at Atera, highlighted ToolJet's ease of deployment, time-saving capabilities, and cost-effective nature.
