QuantWare specializes in developing, designing, and fabricating scalable, superconducting quantum processors (QPUs). The company aims to become the 'Intel of quantum computing' by providing off-the-shelf QPUs and traveling-wave parametric amplifiers (TWPAs) to organizations worldwide, enabling them to build quantum computers at a fraction of the cost of competing solutions.

QuantWare's QPUs leverage superconducting qubits, known for their customizability, ease of control, and scalability, making them a promising candidate for near-term quantum computing applications. In July 2021, the company launched its first off-the-shelf QPU, Soprano, followed by the larger 25-qubit Contralto in March 2022. Both QPUs offer unique customization options and short lead times from order to delivery.

In March 2023, QuantWare unveiled its 64-qubit Tenor processor, featuring a patented 3D technology that routes connections vertically, enabling the scalability of superconducting QPUs to thousands of qubits. This breakthrough opens the door to achieving 'quantum advantage,' where quantum computers outperform the most powerful classical computers. Tenor is the first commercially available device with this technology and provides more than twice the number of qubits as QuantWare's previous largest QPU at a 10x lower price point than competitors.

Key customers and partnerships

In June 2023, QuantWare partnered with Quantum Machines to offer customers a pre-integrated solution combining QuantWare's 25-qubit Contralto QPU with Quantum Machines' OPX+ quantum control system. This partnership enables customers to quickly and seamlessly transition from a QPU to a working quantum computer capable of running advanced algorithms.

QuantWare's QPUs are already in use on four different continents. In July 2023, the company activated its 5-qubit Soprano QPU at Qilimanjaro's facilities in Barcelona, marking the advent of Spain's first quantum computer. This project integrates the quantum computer with the MareNostrum five supercomputer at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
