China Isotope & Radiation Corporation (CIRC) is a subsidiary of China Baoyuan Investment Co Ltd, which is a member company of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). CIRC specializes in research, development, manufacturing, distribution, and services related to nuclear products in China. The company's core operations involve the research and application of radioisotope and radiation technology, including radioisotope preparation using nuclear reactors and cyclotrons.
CIRC's product offerings encompass radiopharmaceuticals, radioactive sources, radiation engineering, and radiation processing. The company constructs gamma irradiation stations designed for disinfection, sterilization of bacteria in foods, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, quarantine inspections, and extending the shelf life of products. In June 2024, CIRC secured a contract to construct a gamma irradiation station with a designed capacity of over 1 million curies for the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA). This project marked CIRC's first overseas engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project.
CIRC operates three radiopharmaceutical manufacturing and research bases located in Beijing, Chengdu, and Shenzhen. The company's successful bid for the BINA project was a result of collaborative efforts among CIRC and other CNNC subsidiaries, aiming to strengthen their complementary capabilities for overseas development.
