Cider Security developed an application security operating system designed to provide transparency and visibility across the software development lifecycle. The company's platform created a comprehensive inventory of an organization's engineering ecosystem, identifying security risks, vulnerabilities, and exploitable attack vectors in CI/CD pipelines. It allowed security and engineering teams to implement and manage tailored application security programs within minutes. Cider Security's solution aimed to eliminate friction between security and engineering by offering a unified view of the technologies, systems, and processes in use throughout the development environment. The platform provided real-time observability into CI/CD pipelines and included access to open-source security scanners through its Scanner-as-a-Service marketplace. In November 2022, Cider Security was acquired by Palo Alto Networks for approximately USD 195 million in cash, with the total deal value reaching USD 300 million including stock. Following the acquisition, Cider Security was integrated into Palo Alto Networks' Prisma Cloud offering to enhance its code-to-cloud security capabilities.
