LyondellBasell Industries (NYSE: LYB) is a global leader in the production of plastics, chemicals, and refining. Founded in 2007 through the merger of Lyondell Chemical Company and Basell Polyolefins, LyondellBasell has grown to become one of the world's largest producers of polymers and a leader in polyolefin technologies.

The company operates in two main segments: Olefins & Polyolefins and Intermediates & Derivatives. Its product portfolio includes polyethylene, polypropylene, propylene oxide, ethylene, propylene, and their derivatives. These materials are used in a wide range of applications across industries such as packaging, automotive, construction, and healthcare. LyondellBasell also produces fuels and refines crude oil into products like diesel and gasoline.

LyondellBasell has been actively expanding its recycling and sustainability efforts. In 2022, the company announced a new Circular and Low Carbon Solutions business with the goal of producing 2 million tonnes of recycled and renewable-based polymers annually by 2030. It has invested in mechanical recycling facilities in Europe through joint ventures and acquisitions. The company is also developing chemical recycling technologies, including its proprietary MoReTec process. In November 2023, LyondellBasell committed to building its first industrial-scale chemical recycling plant in Wesseling, Germany, with a capacity to process 50,000 tonnes of plastic waste per year by 2025.
