It is one of Norway's four systemically important banks, with over NOK 3.4 trillion in consolidated assets (as of December 2023), alongside Kommunalbanken, Nordea Eiendomskreditt, and Sparebank 1. It serves both corporate and retail clients, offering a range of everyday banking services as well as wealth management, investment banking, real estate brokering, and life insurance services. DNB generated net interest income (NII) of NOK 61.5 billion (USD 5.8 billion) and net other operating income of NOK 20.2 billion (USD 1.9 billion) in 2023.

The company operates under three business segments based on the clientele it serves: 1) the Personal Customers segment offers everyday banking products as well as real estate broking services, 2) the Corporate Customers segment offers both Norwegian and international corporate client banking and financing services, and 3) Other Operations comprises its traditional pension business unit as well as its brokerage and investment banking arm.

DNB generates nearly 80% of its total income from its domestic market, Norway, and holds a 23.5% market share in household credit and a 30.3% market share in total household savings in the country (as of November 2023). In addition, one out of three Norwegian SMEs bank with DNB. The company’s vision is to become a “technology company with a banking license,” and it is proactively leveraging technology and data analytics to streamline customer journeys, increase sales, and innovate new products.
