Launched in 2012 and formerly known as the National Integrated Cyber Education Research Center (NICERC), Cyber.org is a cybersecurity workforce training organization funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The organization targets K-12 students and provides cyber career awareness and curricular content related to cybersecurity. Cyber.org also provides professional development for teachers across the US at no cost, with more than 18,000 teachers registered as of August 2021. In August 2021, the organization announced the launch of the first voluntary K-12 cybersecurity learning standards to be deployed across the US facilitated by McREL international, an education research and development non-profit organization.
