Struum was a streaming aggregation platform that operated from May 2021 until mid-2023. The platform used a credit-based subscription model where users could pay USD 4.99 monthly to receive 100 credits, which could be redeemed to watch content from various smaller streaming providers. The service aggregated content from approximately 60 streaming providers including BBC Select, Magnolia Pictures, Tribeca, Cheddar News, Cinedigm, and FilmBox. Struum aimed to help users discover and sample content from niche streaming services without having to subscribe to each one individually. If the platform detected that users were frequently watching content from a particular provider, it would recommend directly subscribing to that service. The service was available on iOS and Android phones, as well as TV platforms including Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV. In June 2023, Struum ceased operations after running out of cash, with its website and apps becoming non-functional before shutting down completely.
