Willicroft

Willicroft, founded in 2018, is a plant-based cheese and butter producer based in the Netherlands. The company produces a range of plant-based cheese varieties under its “This is Not '' vegan brand including grated cheese, cheese sauce, and fondue. While Willicroft’s initial formulations used cashew nuts, in 2023, the company began using white beans to produce plant-based cheese. In July 2023, the company launched its plant-based butter made from fermented beans under the brand name “The Original Better,” which went on sale in September 2023.

The company distributes its products through its store in Amsterdam and, as of August 2021, 100 Albert Heijn stores in the Netherlands and Belgium, as well via the Albert Heijn website. Willicroft launched its product in the UK through major retailers; Waitrose, Wholefoods, Planet Organic, and The Vegan Kind, at the end of 2020.

Funding and financials

In November 2023 , Willicroft launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise EUR 350,000 (~USD 379,877) through a convertible loan agreement (CLA) via Seedblink. The funds were to be deployed for supporting the launch of its newly developed vegan butter, Willicroft Original Better, slated for retail and food service release in 2024.
