Byte Kitchen is a California-based operator-managed cloud kitchen, founded in 2021. The company licenses local restaurant brands and undertakes meal preparation and end-to-end kitchen management. Customers can either order online or at in-store kiosks and have their food delivered or prepared for pickup. The company claims that this model enables independent restaurants to reach new markets without a significant capital investment.
As of August 2022, Byte has two cloud kitchen locations under the brand name “Norshery Food Hall,” with each one housing eight restaurants. The eight brands currently housed in the kitchens are The Melt, Oren's Hummus, The Little Chihuahua, Kasa Indian Eatery, C&C Curry House, East Side Banh Mi, The Pastry Cupboard and Humphry Slocombe.
In August 2022, Byte Kitchen raised USD 6 million in seed funding led by Crosslink Capital, Emergent Ventures, and Kevin Mahaffey to support its expansion in both California and across the US.
