Sharper Shape has developed a digital twin solution, Living Digital Twin (LDT), to remotely maintain and monitor utility assets. Its core product is Sharper CORE, a utility asset intelligence software platform, is driven by AI and ML to provide real-time updates and changes into the 4D digital models to predict and mitigate risks. Data is obtained using advanced techniques such as helicopters with its proprietary Heliscope 2.6 sensor system, AI-powered drones, and other camera systems.
The company has three main solutions: 1) asset management, 2) vegetation management, and 3) smart predictions and forecasting.
As of June 2024, the company had inspected over USD 100 billion worth assets.
Key customers and partnerships
The company’s key customers include top US utility companies such as San Diego Gas & Electric and Pacific Gas & Electric Company. The company has also partnered with Amazon Web Services to provide the LDT service to utility companies and their contractors.
Furthermore, in July 2021 the company partnered with India’s leading renewable energy generation company BLP Industru.AI to provide solutions to electricity transmission, distribution lines, and substations in India.
Funding and financials
The company raised USD 18 million in May 2022 in a Series B funding round led by Michael Harvey Trust. The new funds were allocated toward advancing its digital twin platform, LDT, to improve capabilities, and further expand across the US and Europe.
In November 2022, the company acquired Ai4 Technologies to integrate Ai4’s remote sensing capabilities into the digital twin platform.
