Huuva is a Finland-based cloud kitchen operator that provides kitchen infrastructure in unserved neighborhoods. The company offers support with kitchen maintenance, packing, and order dispatch, freeing restaurants to focus on meal prep. The company’s restaurant partners include Via Tribunali, Green Hippo and Pupu, Lie Mi, Chicken Joint, and Bär Bar. As of June 2022, the company operated six cloud kitchens around greater Helsinki and planned to establish five more in Berlin by the end of 2022.
Huuva’s kitchens are located near easily accessible routes for couriers. The company analyzes local trends, customizing its restaurant brand offering to suit local neighborhoods. The company’s proprietary kitchen software Huuva OS allows multiple restaurants to operate together in a single Huuva kitchen. The software breaks down digital orders received by the kitchens into different restaurant elements and channels orders to the relevant specialist cooks. The software will then track the ETA for the order and provide cooks with visibility and time estimates on other items in the multi-brand order. Customers can group multiple restaurant brands in a single order and can either pick up orders from the kitchens or opt for third-party delivery.
In June 2022, the company raised USD 5.3 million (EUR 4.9 million) in a seed round led by US venture capital company General Catalyst Group Management LLC with participation from Lifeline Ventures. The other investors included angel investors such as Ilkka Paananen and Laurel Bowden. The funds raised were to be used for the company’s growth initiatives, such as its Berlin expansion and the recruitment of 100+ new members. The company targets monthly revenue growth of 20%–30% through these initiatives.
