Nursa operates a two-sided marketplace app that enables healthcare facilities to quickly fill vacant shifts with registered nurses (RNs), certified nursing assistants (CNAs), and licensed practical nurses (LPNs). Facilities can post open shifts on the app, which are then made available to clinicians in the area who can browse and request to work those shifts.
The app streamlines the staffing process by allowing facilities to view clinicians' profiles, verify their credentials, and communicate directly with them through in-app messaging. Once a shift is completed, both parties provide feedback through a review system. Payment is processed through the app, with clinicians receiving their earnings the following Friday through Nursa Direct.
Nursa's platform aims to address the nursing shortage crisis by providing a efficient way for facilities to staff open shifts without the need for bulk contracts or being limited to specific networks. This model eliminates many of the administrative burdens and costs associated with traditional staffing agencies. For clinicians, Nursa offers competitive hourly pay rates along with the flexibility to choose their own schedules.
As of August 2023, Nursa had raised over USD 100 million in funding and was being used by over 1,300 facilities and 95,000 nurse users across the US. In March 2024, the company completed its executive leadership team with new hires for the Chief Product, Revenue, and Technology Officer roles to support its continued growth and address the healthcare industry's financial and staffing challenges.
