Blue Goji, a health and wellness technology company, entered the connected fitness space in April 2022, following the acquisition of connected bike manufacturer Interactive Fitness. Blue Goji’s product portfolio includes GojiPlay (VR fitness games), GojiCare (disease management tools), and its patented “Infinity” treadmill. Blue Goji will manage Interactive Fitness’s connected bike offerings “Expresso” and “CyberCycle” and integrate them with GojiPlay and GojiCare respectively.
Interactive Fitness launched the Expresso Fitness interactive bike with gamification features after acquiring the company in November 2009. Its other products CyberCycle and “Capti” were launched in April 2012 and October 2021 respectively. CyberCycle is a stationary bike with interactive and gamification features designed for older adults and Capti targets home users.
Expresso bikes are equipped with a 26.5-inch HD touchscreen and steering handlebars to turn while embedded magnetic resistance aims to simulate the real environment while riding. The bikes come in two models: “Expresso Go Recumbent” (USD 4,199) and the compact “Expresso Go Upright” (USD 3,999). Today, Expresso operates in both a partner-driven business-to-business (B2B) model, which predominantly targets residential buildings (ex: apartments and condos), corporates, and colleges, as well as a re-emerging business-to-consumer (B2C) model.
Capti bikes feature a 24-inch touchscreen, terrain adaptive resistance (automatically adjusts to the grade in the game), and patent-pending “Smart Ride” technology, which facilitates road bike experience with dynamic steering and a studio bike experience with locked handlebars and fixed pedals. The unit retails at USD 3,495, with plans to start shipping by December 2021. The bikes are priced somewhat higher than peers such as Peloton and Volava (USD 1,495–2,495) as well as direct rival Playpulse, who also offers a game-led bike (USD 1,999).
Infinity treadmill is a motor-free treadmill with Infinity system that combines VR gaming tech with real-world motion to deliver a fitness-game experience. It stores user workout data to track and provide workout-based analytics. The product contains a variable price tag, as each unit is configured based on an individual user.
Users can also access its game-led regularly updated content library, which includes 50 maps, 20,000 feet of elevation, and 350+ miles of graphics as of October 2021. In addition, it offers other workouts such as virtual cycling, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) games, heart rate training, and studio cycling classes. Capti users can access the content for a monthly subscription fee of USD 34 (up to 10 users). However, subscriptions pertaining to Expresso bikes are not disclosed.
