Agriwater, founded in 2021, is developing an electrolysis-based technology to treat agricultural wastewater, particularly focusing on animal waste management. The company's proprietary water treatment system employs a modular electro-coagulator that removes contaminants from wastewater, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the risk of runoff pollution to local water sources. The technology aims to address the environmental challenges posed by hazardous wastewater lagoons commonly used in livestock farming, which can pollute nearby natural water sources and create strong fumes in surrounding communities. As of 2024, the company is working to scale its technology from laboratory testing to on-site farm implementations, having already demonstrated successful results on a smaller scale. Through a two-year program with the US Department of Energy's Lab-Embedded Entrepreneurship Program, Agriwater has access to lab space and mentorship at Oak Ridge Laboratory in Tennessee to advance its commercialization efforts.
