The Wee House is a Scottish company that develops modular single-family housing units, targeting self-developers, housing associations, and housing developers. The houses are manufactured at a factory in East Ayrshire, Scotland, and transported to anywhere in the UK.
The company reports that its construction and material handling techniques generate up to 84.7% less waste compared to traditional buildings. Further, construction traffic and related emissions are also reduced by up to 50% throughout development.
The company says it gets its timber from sustainable sources and off-cuts are used elsewhere in construction, which helps to reduce the environmental impact. Wee House also offers net-zero carbon modular homes by incorporating renewable energy generation, such as solar, and using techniques such as improved ventilation and heat recovery to reduce energy consumption.
