Beem Energy is a French startup founded in 2019, focused on empowering individuals to take control of their energy consumption and production at home. The company's flagship product is the Beem Kit, a connected plug-and-play solar kit designed for easy installation by homeowners. The Beem Kit comprises four solar panels with a total output of 420 watts and is priced at EUR 710 as of 2023.
The Beem Kit enables households to produce their own solar energy, optimize consumption, and potentially save up to EUR 250 annually, including EUR 140 in energy bill savings and EUR 110 from leveraging the eco-friendly features of the Beem Energy application. The average payback period for the kit is under three years.
In addition to the Beem Kit, the company aims to develop an ecosystem of products and services catering to the growing demand for residential renewable energy solutions. Beem Energy's mission is to democratize solar energy adoption and contribute to the energy transition by offering simple and accessible solutions.
As of July 2023, Beem Energy had equipped several tens of thousands of homes in France and other European markets with its solar kits. In December 2022, Swell partnered with Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) to launch a residential VPP program aiming for 20 MWh and 10 MW of renewable capacity initially, with potential to scale up to 54 MWh and 27 MW.
In February 2024, Swell acquired residential and commercial solar installer Renu Energy Solutions, expanding its footprint across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic markets.
