Immergo Labs is a virtual reality telehealth platform aimed at revolutionizing physical therapy. Founded by UC Santa Cruz alumni Aviv Elor, Ash Robbins, and Michael Powell, the company leverages cutting-edge technology to enable patients to continue their rehabilitation from the comfort of their homes. Immergo's platform facilitates live virtual sessions where physical therapists can guide patients through exercises, monitor their movements, and track progress metrics like range of motion and joint torques.
The platform operates by having patients and therapists don virtual reality headsets, transporting them into a shared 3D virtual environment. Here, they can interact and move around as if in the same room, with therapists providing real-time feedback and adjustments. Immergo's technology records valuable data points throughout the session, allowing for comprehensive analysis of the patient's recovery journey.
While not a replacement for in-person care, Immergo aims to supplement traditional physical therapy by increasing accessibility and adherence. The platform addresses common barriers like distance, mobility issues, and scheduling conflicts, enabling more consistent treatment and follow-up appointments. Additionally, Immergo aims to combat the industry's high no-show rates, which can reach up to 50% for large clinics, translating to significant lost revenue.
In preparation for its targeted January 2023 beta launch, Immergo has conducted extensive user testing and validation studies, including a successful demo at the 2022 American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting. As of September 2022, the company had raised approximately USD 411,000 through grants and crowdfunding campaigns. Immergo plans a full public release by the end of 2023, with a waitlist of 70 users already in place.
