Transfur is a comprehensive veterinary referral management platform that streamlines the process of requesting, sending, managing, and reviewing medical records between primary and specialty veterinarians. Launched in October 2021, the company offers a business-to-business software-as-a-service (B2B SaaS) solution that brings innovation and efficiency to the veterinary industry.
The platform utilizes artificial intelligence to extract relevant information from an animal's previous medical history, enabling clinically efficient experiences for veterinarians. Transfur's technology aims to address the lack of interoperability, integrations, and standards within the veterinary field, alleviating the strain on veterinary practices caused by the sharp increase in demand for services during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Transfur was co-founded by Scott Brown, an accomplished entrepreneur and technology executive with over 25 years of leadership experience in healthcare software, and Annie and Ali Pankowski, veterinary students who witnessed the challenges of referral management firsthand. The company is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is a member of The Medical Alley Association (MAA).
In October 2021, Transfur received funding from Varsity Venture Studio, a collaboration between the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), and High Alpha Innovation. The company has established partnerships with major airlines, including Air Canada, British Airways, Qatar Airways, Thomson Airways, Air New Zealand Cargo, Cathay Pacific, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, United Cargo, South African Airways, and Virgin Atlantic, to facilitate the transportation of pets.
