Hifi Engineering is a company specializing in high-fidelity distributed sensing (HDS) technology. Their innovative solution combines fiber optic sensing with traditional asset monitoring frameworks to enhance safety and performance for end-users. In January 2024, Hifi was recognized by the Fiber Optic Sensing Association (FOSA) for its groundbreaking work integrating their HDS system with Chevron's Lay Flat Frac Line Monitoring (LFFL) products.

The HDS technology developed by Hifi enables highly sensitive distributed monitoring of LFFL lines, which carry recycled water from hydraulic fracturing operations. These portable lines, laid on the ground between fracking pumps, pose challenges for traditional inspection methods. Hifi's customized solution successfully addressed these challenges, minimizing the need for manual inspections. Notably, Hifi's system detected an extremely low-level water leak of less than one liter per minute on an LFFL line, which went undetected by other means, allowing Chevron to promptly address the issue.
