Patient21 is a German digital healthcare company that has developed a proprietary software platform covering the entire patient journey, from online booking and digital case histories to diagnosis, treatment planning, and billing. Unlike its competitors, the company does not offer remote care or telehealth options. This is mainly due to its focus on dentistry, which accounts for more than 80% of its clinics targeting oral health, with the remainder divided between gynecology and primary care practices.
Its offering also includes an electronic health record (EHR) system that enhances diagnostic quality, reduces costs, and improves patient services.
Key customers and partnerships
As of May 2024, Patient21 managed 50 clinics and handled more than 235,000 patient visits annually.
Funding and financials
In May 2023, the company raised EUR 100 million (USD 108 million) in a Series C funding round. The funds raised were a combination of debt (~30%) and equity (~70%). Pitango led the equity funding, while IPF Partners provided the debt portion. The funds were earmarked toward expanding the company's software offerings and broadening its geographical reach beyond its presence in Germany.
