Fork Farms

Fork Farms is a hydroponic vertical farming system provider. Its flagship ‘Flex Farm’ system allows growers to harvest 25 lbs of fresh produce every 28 days (more than 394 lbs of produce annually) and grow up to a total of 3,400 plants annually in less than 10 sq ft of space. The company has expanded its reach to 42 US states, nine countries in Europe, Israel, and Canada.

The company's modular design meets various needs from single units to larger farming operations. For large-scale farms, the company provides Flex Connect, which serves as a centralized hydroponic solution, connecting individual Flex Farms (4-12 per system). For producers growing fresh produce at scale, it offers Flex Acre, which connects 48+ Flex Farms and produces 1,200+ lbs of fresh food annually.

The company claims to use 98% less water and land than traditional agriculture and is 40% more energy-efficient than hydroponic competitors.

Fork Farms provides its services to learning spaces, hunger relief organizations, food service professionals, commercial growers, chefs, healthcare providers, and others. 

Key customers and partnerships

In February 2023, Aspirus Health, a non-profit, community-directed health system, partnered with Fork Farms to implement hydroponics for growing fresh food within hospitals. In August 2023, Fork Farms partnered with Rockwell Automation, a provider of industrial automation technologies, to build a 7,300-square-foot hydroponic vertical farm by the summer of 2024.

Funding and Financials

In August 2021, Fork Farms raised USD 2 million in a Series A funding round, led by existing investor TitletownTech to expand Flex Farm systems to more markets across the US, enhance product development, and hiring.
