 <p>Genus, an animal genetics company, has engineered CRISPR-edited pigs to resist the porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), by editing a protein called "CD163." The company is hoping for FDA approval to sell this as early as next year.</p>
 <p>After approval, Genus plans to sell sperm from these gene-edited pigs, which possess the modified genes. The firm claims that breeding from this stock will result in pigs completely immune to PRRS.</p>
