Germitec is a French healthcare technology company specializing in high-level disinfection (HLD) systems for ultrasound probes using ultraviolet C (UV-C) light. Founded in 2005 by Clément Deshays, Germitec designs and commercializes automated UV-C disinfection devices that replace traditional chemical-based methods. The company's flagship product, Hypernova Chronos, disinfects external, vaginal, and rectal ultrasound probes in just 90 seconds, while Antigermix AE1 is designed for transesophageal and ENT probes, disinfecting them in three minutes. Germitec also offers PROUV, an advanced digital traceability system for use with its disinfection devices.

Germitec's technology aims to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections, including nosocomial infections, which affect approximately 5% of hospitalized patients in France annually. The company's UV-C based disinfection method has proven effective against various microorganisms, including the papillomavirus, in both laboratory and real-world conditions.

In 2020, Germitec's Chronos system won the Prix Galien Award for Best Medical Device, recognizing its innovation in the healthcare field. The company has seen significant growth and expansion, with its products approved in over 35 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas as of May 2022. Germitec relocated its headquarters to Bordeaux and reported a revenue of EUR 6.5 million in 2022, with a team of 45 employees, 38 of whom are based in Bordeaux.

To support its growth and innovation, Germitec secured EUR 11 million in funding in May 2022 and an additional EUR 25 million from the European Investment Bank in November 2023. These investments are intended to accelerate the company's international expansion, enhance its research and development efforts, and support its market access strategies.
