Trellix is a merger of the spin-offs of threat intelligence company FireEye (FireEye Products) and industry-leading web security provider McAfee (McAfee Enterprise), whose products were combined into a single cloud and on-premise security offering in October 2021.

Trellix offers an AI/ML-powered extended detection and response (XDR) platform that incorporates a combination of endpoint, network, email, and cloud solutions in more than 600 security tools. Trellix offers cybersecurity solutions to proactively detect and respond to cyber threats in the areas of cloud security, endpoint security, network security, extended detection and response (XDR), and managed detection and response (MDR).

Trellix’s XDR ecosystem leverages forensics to offer endpoint security capability through continuous proactive detection, response, and prevention of attacks on endpoints in real time. The cloud security solution combines cloud access security (CASB), secure web gateway (SWG), and zero trust network access (ZTNA) to secure data, user access, and cloud services against ransomware and SaaS threats. The application security solution provides continuous workload and container scanning to protect cloud-native applications throughout the CI/CD cycle. Trellix Infrastructure uses forensics to detect and respond to threats across networks, servers, and data centers.

The company’s advanced threat research lab (formerly McAfee Enterprise Advanced Threat Research) comprises 24/7 experts who use techniques, tactics, and procedures (TTPs) to identify and remediate critical vulnerabilities in hardware and software. The lab also provides demos of projects including attacks targeting verticals such as the banking, retail, and medical industries.

The company had a headcount of 5,000 employees, over 40,000 customers, and nearly USD 2 billion in revenue, as of January 2022.
