 ING bank, in partnership with CoGo, a carbon footprint management app, has launched the Footprint Insight feature on its mobile banking app. The tool allows ING’s private clients to monitor the CO2 emissions tied to their transactions and promotes greener spending habits.
 Footprint Insight calculates CO2 emissions based on monthly spending in various categories, utilizing emission factors tailored for the Netherlands provided by CoGo. The feature enhances ING's existing Insight tool in the app, categorizing income and outgoings, and aiding users in understanding the environmental implications of their financial actions.
 The feature was initially tested in July 2022 with 500,000 customers participating. After a successful trial and positive customer response, ING chose to make the feature available to all private customers. Users can enable this feature directly from the app whenever they choose.
