Based in California, Posh automates the EV battery recycling process. The company uses robotic arms and AI to automate disassembling and grading spent batteries. Generally used batteries are disassembled 100% manually before they can be reused or shredded for recycling. Posh is working on changing this and claims that its technology can disassemble batteries fast and safely with 10x efficiency. Founded in 2021, the company states that its flexible automation system can also handle a large variety of battery packs and can deal with uncertainties in recycling batteries.
The company is working on using its technology to bring affordable lithium-ion batteries to market and is also looking into building a model that can handle all types of batteries. As of June 202, the technology was not successfully commercialized.
In June 2022, the company raised USD 3.8 million in a seed funding round. The funding was expected to support the company in developing its automation technology.
