Rhizocore Technologies is a UK-based company that develops technologies to produce special fungi to improve the growth of newly planted forests and woodlands. The company has developed a first-of-its-kind fungal pellet using locally adapted mycorrhizal fungi to facilitate an underground nutrient exchange between trees and fungi, known as the “Wood-Wide Web.” Rhizocore has stated that the use of its pellets improves growth rates by 20% and helps trees cope more effectively during droughts. The company plans to scale its operations with the goal of planting up to five million trees, with accompanying fungal pellets per year by 2025.

Since 2019, the company has launched 19 restoration pilot projects across 12 countries.The company combines local expertise and AWS Cloud computing tools, including Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) and AWS Secrets Manager to help regrow plants.
