Sustainable Skylines is an advertising technology company revolutionizing the out-of-home (OOH) aerial media industry. They employ hybrid drone technologies to tow full-size advertising banners, offering a safer, greener, and more precise alternative to traditional aircraft banner towing. Their proprietary audience analytics platform, powered by computer vision and artificial intelligence, aggregates data from cellular networks, geospatial mapping, and real-time flight footage to provide actionable insights to advertisers.
Sustainable Skylines' drones operate at lower altitudes and slower speeds compared to airplanes, enabling closer engagement with the audience. They also eliminate the need for runways by utilizing vertical take-off and landing capabilities. In June 2022, the company partnered exclusively with VELARY, an aviation technology firm specializing in hybrid-powered drones and vertical mobility solutions.
After two years of stealth mode operations, Sustainable Skylines emerged in June 2022, announcing their intent to secure FAA approval and launch commercial operations in Miami Beach. In August 2023, they received the first-ever FAA authorization for drones to tow full-size advertising banners. By December 2023, Sustainable Skylines raised USD 1 million in pre-seed funding to support their initial Miami Beach launch.
In April 2024, Sustainable Skylines acquired FAA approval for commercial drone banner towing operations under Section 44807 exemption, marking a significant milestone. They formed a partnership with the Unmanned Safety Institute (USI) to develop a training and certification program for pilots and staff, enabling rapid expansion plans after their Miami Beach launch.
