inCitu transforms proposed and upcoming development information from private and publicly available sources into a tangible 3D visualization, geofenced in AR, for future building sites on a real-world scale. inCitu uses AR on mobile devices to allow users to see how the urban landscape evolves over time. The visualizations created by inCitu enable residents, developers, and city governments to shape their communities collaboratively. All inCitu's content, including buildings, affordable housing, mixed-use developments, parks and bridges, neighborhood redevelopment, and regional infrastructure, is accessible via mobile AR.
Additionally, the app offers comprehensive access to data, information on the processes, and other development-related information. Through its iOS-based mobile app, available on the Apple App Store, and integrations with social media platforms like Snapchat, inCitu lets users view urban planning data.
As of January 2024, inCitu had over 3,000 future developments built in AR, with more than 250,000 residents viewing the prospective projects near their homes through an AR experience. The company also won the “Best Startup to Watch” at the 2021 Auggie Awards, a recognized AR/VR industry award.
Key customers and partnerships
inCitu signed two partnerships with Snap and Esri in 2022 to enhance the company's data and influence on the platforms. Through its partnership with Snap, inCitu reached the milestone of reaching more than 100,000 residents utilizing an AR lens available on Snap for a Midtown Manhattan development proposal under evaluation. The company claims it was the most visible planning proposal in the history of city planning. inCitu also unveiled a second AR lens in collaboration with Snap and the Annenberg Foundation to build the largest animal crossing in the world in Agoura Hills, California, by 2025.
