Wink offers a biometric authentication solution for ecommerce logins and payments. The company leverages AI and machine learning to integrate face, voice, and device recognition. It uses a video from consumer devices to tokenize a user’s face, voice, device, and payment method.
The platform essentially converts cameras on devices (such as computers, smartphones, connected cars) into POS authentication points. Accordingly, Wink can be used across several applications, ranging from ecommerce to smarthomes and connected cars.
Key customers and partnerships
Wink announced a go-to-market partnership with IT consulting firm, Brainvire , in February 2023. Through the partnership, the companies aim to offer biometric payment and checkout plugins, which are accessible to merchants across leading e-commerce platforms.
Funding and financials
Wink raised USD 3 million in seed funds in February 2023, led by Cerracap Ventures, less than a year after raising USD 2.85 million in pre-seed funds in May 2022 (also co-led by Cerracap). The funds were earmarked to help Wink commercialize its platform across several use cases, including e-commerce, connected cars, and smart homes.
