Australia-based Diraq, a spinout from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), is a full-stack quantum computing company that caters to the semiconductor industry by leveraging silicon-based technology. The company’s technology revolves around quantum processors and silicon chips that use electron spins. By leveraging existing chip fabrication technology, Diraq achieves a single, stable, and compact system fully integrated within small chipsets. Diraq delivers fully error-corrected, large-scale quantum computing capable of addressing complex challenges in pharmaceuticals, financial modeling, and new catalyst development for the chemical industry. The company's technology stands out for its use of existing semiconductor technology, allowing for scalable quantum computing solutions.
In June 2024, Diraq announced having achieved a record control accuracy of 99.9% in a quantum processor using industry-standard silicon wafers. In connection to this, GlobalFoundries was contracted to manufacture a sample batch of Diraq’s chips in late 2024.
Key customers and partnerships
In September 2023, the company partnered with Q-CTRL to work on three multi-million-dollar projects that promote the commercial use of quantum computing globally. Through this collaboration, Diraq provides its Silicon quantum computing hardware, and Q-CTRL integrates its quantum software solutions to extract optimum value for end-users.
