Shucks Maine Lobster is a lobster processing company based in Richmond, Maine. The company pioneered the use of high-pressure processing technology for lobster in the state in 2006. This innovative method applies water pressure of up to 87,000 pounds per square inch to lobsters, killing them instantly while preserving meat quality and extending shelf life. The process also allows for easier extraction of raw meat from the shell, opening up new product possibilities for chefs and consumers. Shucks operated a 62,000-square-foot processing plant in Richmond, employing about 50 workers. In August 2022, Shucks Maine Lobster was acquired by Angie's Lobster, an Arizona-based restaurant chain specializing in affordable lobster rolls. The acquisition was part of Angie's Lobster's strategy to vertically integrate its supply chain and maintain low prices for its customers.
