Washington-based Spaceflight Inc. is an end-to-end mission management services company providing rideshare capabilities through a global network of partners. The company works with its clients to get them on the optimal orbit for their mission, including Mid-inclination, Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO), Geostationary Transfer Orbit (GTO), or Cislunar. The company also serves customers throughout the launch process from the planning stage to the launch for a range of payloads from CubeSats to a 2,000 kilogram micro-satellite. The mission for a 100kg satellite to LEO was priced at USD 975,000 and USD 8.5 million to GTO as of June 2022.
Furthermore, Spaceflight’s Sherpa orbital transfer vehicle (OTV) transports the satellite to its destination orbit from the point of drop off from the launch vehicle. Spaceflight's first orbital free flyers successfully released 64 distinct spacecraft over the course of 6 hours on the historic SSO-A mission. It was the most number of tiny satellites ever launched by a US launch vehicle (a Falcon 9 out of Vandenberg Air Force Base, Dec. 2018).
Key customers and partnerships
The company caters to many customers and was involved in NASA’s LLITED mission, which consisted of two 1.5U CubeSats designed, built, and operated by The Aerospace Corporation, which was part of Spaceflight’s SXRS-6 mission (SpaceX Transporter-3). Other notable customers include Orbit Fab, Astrocast, Honeywell Aerospace, and Portland State Aerospace Society.
