Based in Belgium, Fertikal produces organic fertilizers from locally sourced chicken manure, using a proprietary recycling process. Collected organic animal waste first goes through a pre-composting, drying, and mixing process after which the mixture is pasteurized, ground, and pelletized to produce the final product for packaging. In addition to being pelletized for use in arable crops and soil-bound horticultural crops, the company’s fertilizers can be produced in crumbs to be easily dissolved in soil for use in lawns, golf courts, and gardens.
The company also offers organo-mineral fertilizers with added minerals to improve the fertilizer profile and compost products through its “Fertikal Kallo” and “Fertimass Maaseik” ranges. The fertilizers are offered in liquid formulation as well, with customizable nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium availability (NPK) profiles and private labeling services.
Fertikal claims that its fertilizer is a 100%-recycled and environment-friendly product that increases microbial activity, provides humic and fulvic acids, contains slow release nutrients, and stabilizes the soil structure. As of June 2022, Fertikal had produced more than 75,000 tons of fertilizer and had sold to more than 55 countries.
