Eyas Medical Imaging is a medical technology company that develops advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems specifically designed for neonatal patients. Their flagship product, the Ascent3T, is a groundbreaking neonatal MRI system that utilizes a three Tesla (3 trillion) magnet, providing a magnetic field strength previously unavailable in neonatal MRI systems. This innovation enables healthcare professionals to obtain detailed imaging of vital organs, including the brain, lungs, heart, and abdomen, offering unmatched accuracy in neonatal diagnostics.
The Ascent3T addresses a significant access challenge by allowing direct installation within the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), eliminating the need to transport fragile newborns to alternate MRI locations within the hospital. Its compact footprint and innovative engineering are tailored specifically for infant anatomy. Upon receiving 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Ascent3T will provide infants with the same access and standard of care typically provided to adults by conventional MRI systems.
Conceived by Dr. Charles Dumoulin, a professor of Pediatrics and Radiology at Cincinnati Children's, and the founder and CTO of Eyas Medical Imaging, the Ascent3T represents a significant advancement in neonatal imaging. In July 2023, Eyas Medical Imaging installed the first Ascent3T system at the NICU of Cincinnati Children's in Ohio for research studies. The data from these studies will be used to apply for FDA 510(k) clearance for the system.
