Founded in 2013 by Cristobal Viedma, the Lingokids platform was launched in 2016 and is designed for children aged two to eight, and initially focused on English language learning. It now provides a more project-based learning curriculum in English and promotes self-learning, where children interact with the platform independently. The platform helps children improve their vocabulary, literacy, and STEM skills and develop social and emotional skills. The platform also provides content for parents in the form of Play-Together activities. More recently, in March 2022, the company partnered with existing investor Ravensburger to launch its first physical solution “Lingokids Memory,” a board game that uses the characters in the app to support the process of learning basic vocabulary for children aged 3+. As of September 2022, the platform was used by more than 50 million families. In October 2024, Lingokids launched the animated series Baby Bot's Backyard Tales.
Lingokids reported a planned headcount of 100 by the end of 2020. The new content developed after the funds raised in June 2021 will include audiobooks and audio exercises covering topics such as mental health, mindfulness, and meditation. Funds will also be allocated to increase headcount and expand internationally.
