Axilion is an Israeli startup that develops digital twins of cities using AI in order to enable real-time monitoring of traffic patterns and traffic optimization. The firm uses deep reinforcement learning to automate simulations and the implementation of 100% autonomous city-wide traffic light programs. The firm's solutions were developed in association with the Israel Innovation Authority and are compatible with Microsoft’s Azure cloud. The firm has also developed proprietary AI cameras mounted on vehicles and at intersections for collecting and analyzing video footage, which it claims saves up to 40% in installation time compared to other solutions.
The firm claims that its solutions have helped reduce CO2 emissions by 140,000 tons per year, increased public transport ridership by 400%, and increased frequency of usage by 66%.

In February 2021, it signed a 10-year agreement with Ayalon Highway, a government roadway developer in Israel, to use Axilion’s AI to implement smart traffic lights on the roads managed by Ayalon. In addition, the firm's solutions have also been successfully piloted in Italy and France.
