zkPass is a decentralized privacy protocol that enables users to verify their sensitive data on any website without disclosing it to the third party. The protocol leverages decentralized multi-party computation (MPC) nodes that verify the integrity of user data and generates a zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) that prevents it from being viewed or tampered with when shared with external websites. The protocol’s flagship product, known as “Transgate," supports a number of private data generation sources and verification scenarios, including legal identity, financial records, healthcare information, social interactions, work experience, and education and skill certifications.
Furthermore, zkPass’ technology can also be applied to create a number of solutions such as decentralized identity passes, privacy-centric healthcare data marketplaces, and DeFi protocols
Funding and financials
In August 2023, zkPass raised USD 2.5 million in seed funding from Binance Labs, Sequoia China, OKX Ventures, dao5, SIG DT Investments, and Cypher Capital, among others. The company earmarked the funding to support the development of its pre-alpha testnet, which had over 190,000 sign-ups on its waitlist at the time.
