Clutch is a digital marketing platform that provides emerging brands with access to Gen Z student creators to help with content creation, social media management, video editing, and graphic design. The platform launched in a closed beta program in January 2022 and it is only available to students with .edu emails in the US. The platform allows for open conversations between brands and creators and uses a process that pairs brands with creators that share interests and meet their expectations. Clutch provides tools to help people edit videos, design graphics, and manage social media presences on other platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Additionally, the platform lets individuals track the success of their collaborations with brands and offers weekly payouts to creators. Creators have the option of setting their own rates, with the company reporting that creators earn an average of USD 2,500 per brand collaboration.
Clutch charges a one-time, non-refundable activation fee to business customers ranging from USD 99 to USD 350. Clutch also receives a placement fee of 3% of the total base rate brands pay to creators.
Key customers and partnerships
Key consumers include leading CPG brands, consumer-focused startups, and Gen-Z-centric brands including heywell, Agua Bonita, Campfire, and Zerotio. As of August 2022, the platform had over 200 creators on the platform and a 3,000-person waitlist.
Funding and financials
In August 2022 , Clutch launched in open beta after having raised USD 1.2 million in a pre-seed funding round led by Precursor Ventures.
