SJW Robotics is a Canada-based company that develops an autonomous robotic restaurant kiosk (called “RoWok”), which serves made-to-order meals. RoWok has a footprint of approximately 100 sq. ft. and is embedded with robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and cloud analytics technologies. It can operate around the clock, preparing 60+ meals per hour. The unit can hold 16 different ingredients, 10 sauces, oil, and liquid egg and has the capacity to prepare 350–400 meals without the need for refills. The company pitches its product mainly toward facilities such as hospitals, airports, retail establishments, and educational spaces where kitchen services are not available or are limited. The company plans to offer the unit under a franchise business model for a price of USD 250,000.
Key customers and partnerships
In July 2022, SJW Robotics partnered with food service company Compass Group Canada to pilot RoWok units across some of its facilities.
Funding and financials
As of March 2022, the company was in the midst of raising USD 5 million with the intention of deploying 2,000 units, translating to around USD 1 billion in revenue during 2022–2027.
