Qlik is a Swedish company that offers cloud-based data integration and analytics solutions, including hybrid data delivery, data transformation, analytics, and data visualization among others. The company was listed on the NASDAQ in 2010 and subsequently delisted after being acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo for around USD 3 billion in 2016. As of September 2021, the company served over 50,000 enterprise customers from several industries (such as healthcare, financial services, retail, manufacturing, public sector, and communications, among others) in over 100 countries around the world. 

The company entered the no-code workflow automation market in September 2021, with the launch of “Qlik Application Automation.” Based on technology leveraged from the acquisition of Blendr.io in October 2020, Qlik Application Automation is a drag-and-drop no-code tool enables users to create dynamic processes that can be used to automate responses to business events and trigger informed action by creating scalable connections and data flows or using prebuilt templates. The tool integrates with the Qlik cloud platform as well as third-party SaaS platforms such as Salesforce, Slack, and Microsoft Teams to enable users to optimize tasks such as analytics DevOps, app publishing, and the delivery of insights from Qlik to other platforms.

The company further expanded its presence in the no code market in the same month, by acquiring BigSquid, a no-code automated machine learning provider. Big Squid offers a no-code machine learning platform to build AI-based models named “AutoML” as an extension of its suite of data analytics tools named “Kraken”. The company serves companies in several industries including professional services, marketing, insurance, manufacturing, finance and healthcare among others. 

By acquiring a data analytics company Qlik looks to enhance its offering by leveraging BigSquid’s augmented analytics capabilities such as key driver analysis, predictive analytics and what-if scenario planning for on-demand predictions directly within Qlik cloud. Additionally, Qlik will utilize Big Squid’s API integrations with third party engines and the integrated intelligent AI ?assistant “Insight Advisor” to further expand its analytics capabilities. Qlik will continue to provide support to “AutoML”, Big Squid’s automated machine learning based model building platform for a wide variety of data sources such as Google, Microsoft and Snowflake.?
