LuxWall is a Michigan-based company that produces Net Zero Glass technology, a proprietary vacuum insulation glass product designed to significantly improve energy efficiency in buildings. Its Net Zero Glass comprises two vacuum-insulated coated glass (VIG) panes that act like a thermos bottle, reducing conduction, convection, and radiative heat gain and energy loss through windows. This innovative glass delivers an R-value of R-12.5, far exceeding the R-3 to R-7 performance of current window offerings. By adopting LuxWall's Net Zero Glass, building heating and cooling energy demand can be reduced by up to 40%, translating to a carbon footprint reduction of 2.5 kg per square foot of building floor space annually.
LuxWall raised USD 33 million in Series A funding led by 2150, Khosla Ventures, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and Prelude Ventures in January 2023, bringing its total funding to USD 39 million. The company plans to utilize these funds to scale production of its Net Zero Glass technology at 'LuxWall Factory 1', its first purpose-built commercial factory, which is an extension of the pilot production line commissioned in 2022. In July 2023, LuxWall announced plans to establish two manufacturing facilities in Detroit and Litchfield, Michigan, representing a USD 165 million investment expected to create 450 jobs. The Litchfield plant will produce 200,000 window units annually, while the Detroit facility will have an annual capacity of 600,000 units.
